Attendance is very important. Please schedule appointments before or after school.

Students should come to school unless they are too sick to function or contagious. When students miss school, it is their responsibility to pick up missed homework and complete it within three days of the time they were absent. Any missed tests will be given on the day the student returns to school.  A parent or sibling can pick up homework by special arrangement.  All homework assignments are posted on this web site.  If a student is not too sick to do work at home, it is recommended that he or she check this site for the homework, call a study buddy, or have someone pick up the assignment.

Students are responsible for copying missed notes before or after school.

It is strongly recommended that students who miss several days come in before school for help in getting caught up!!

Assignment and Assessment Values

Homework is assigned five days a week.  Each homework assignment is worth 5 points unless stated otherwise.  Late homework will only be accepted under special circumstances.

Participation affects the students' grade. This category is to reward students for coming to class on time, bringing required materials to class, taking notes, completing warm ups, and being respectful. Warm ups are worth 2 points per day and make up 5% of the students' grade.

Homework, and participation make up 35% of the students' grade.

Quizzes are given frequently to assess student progress. Quizzes may not be made up, so it is important that students do not habitually miss school.  Point value varies.

Tests are given after each Chapter.  Each tests is worth 100 points.

Projects may be given to further assess student understanding. Project point value will vary.

Tests, Quizzes, and Projects make up 60% of the students' grade.

Extra Credit can be earned if all the work in each category is completed.  Opportunities for extra credit are posted in class.  Total Extra Credit cannot exceed an additional 5% of the students' grade.

Students will learn how to use a Scientific Notation Calculator. Many students have already obtained one. If one cannot be obtained, the teacher will lend the student one for class use only. Students should have a calculator at home that they can use.

Make sure the computer form is turned in to participate in computer activities.
