Current Grades are posted every week in class.

Britton Middle School is now posting grades online.  For the 2009/2010 school year, most teachers will be posting grades online through WebGrade. Each student will receive one login and password that gives them and their parents access to all the posted grades.  Parents are also welcome to request a current grade directly from the teacher at any time, by email, phone, or in person.

Grading

1.0 Philosophy
The primary basis for grading is to measure pupil achievement against approved course objectives. It shall be the student's responsibility to do the work necessary for achievement of these objectives and it shall be the teacher's responsibility to cover such objectives during the course. The determination of the student's grade shall be derived from:

1.1 Evaluation, by the teacher, of student achievement of the course objectives.

1.2 Consideration, or attitude, effort, conduct and attendance, may affect the grade(s).

2.0 Grading

2.1 The teacher, or department, shall determine the concepts, skills, quality level, and objectives students can reasonably be expected to reach or master in the subject area during the grading period. These expected achievement levels shall be based upon the District adopted course of study.

2.2 Grades shall be the traditional A to F.

3.0 Grading Scale

Grades shall be based upon the following scale:

(Percentage)

94 - 100  =  A
90  -  93  =  A -
87  -  89  =  B+
83  -  86  =  B
80  -  82  =  B-
77  -  79  =  C+
73  -  76  =  C
70  -  72  =  C-

67  -  69  =  D+
63  -  66  =  D
60  -  62  =  D-
  0  -  59  =  F

Highlighted scores put students at risk of retention.

(GPA Points)

A  =  4,  B  =  3,  C  =  2,  D  =  1,  F  =  0

Note:  Colleges no longer except grades below a C!

Colleges recalculate student GPA using 0 points for any grades below a C.  Colleges look at all College Prep. classes taken in Junior High and High School.  Algebra 1 and Plane Geometry are CP courses.

Contact the teacher for more detailed individual grade breakdown.
